OFFICIAL VISIT OF LOWER SILESIAN DELEGATION

On December, 9th, the Ajara government hosted an official delegation of Lower Silesia Voivodship at Hilton Batumi. Both sides gave presentations about economic and tourism potential of respective regions and introduced leading economic sectors/fields for potential collaboration in future. In the framework of the official visit, the Marshal of the Lower Silesia Voivodship Mr. Cezary Przybylski met the Chairman of Ajara government Mr. Archil Khabadze, where they discussed issues about cooperation in certain fields and planned reciprocal visit of the Ajara delegation to Wroclaw. Apart from the Marshal, the Polish delegation was made up of members of Lower Silesian Sejm, local Chamber of Commerce and Industry, educational institutions and business community. They shared their experience in managing EU funded projects and Free Economic Zones which are topical issues for the Ajara Region. The Polish side conducted meetings also with the Chairman and members of Ajara Supreme Council, Ajara Tourism and Resorts Department and Ajara Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Later on, they visited Sarpi Border Checkpoint and Public Service Hall of Batumi, explored the Gonio Fortress and other famous historical sites.
It is noteworthy, that the capital of Lower Silesia Voivodship – Wroclaw will be the European capital of culture and World Book capital in 2016, and as the Marshal stated, Georgian and Adjara based artists and various cultural groups are kindly invited to participate in the upcoming events in Poland. An idea to organize Ajara-Lower Silesia business forum in Wroclaw also was voiced by both sides.
