European Economic Senate Congress

International Forum “European Economic Senate Congress” was opened at “Sheraton” hotel in Batumi on August 15, by the European Economic Senate’s (EES) initiative. EES is a coordinating center of the European businesses, uniting leaders of large European companies and politicians from EU member countries. The president of the senate is the vice president of European parliament Ingo Friendrich.
Representatives of Georgian and Ajara governments, executive directors of the Senate, members of European parliament, European and Georgian investors were invited to participate in the event. Strengthening of Georgia – EU trade and investment relations, introduction of European business standards to Georgia and support of Georgian business in Europe were main themes discussed at the meeting. The Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia, the Ministry of Energy of Georgia, the Ministry Finance and Economy of Ajara Autonomous Republic, Georgian National Investment Agency, Georgian National Tourism Administration and Georgian Co-Investment Fund made presentations about country’s investment potential and opportunities. Several investment projects were presented to European senators.
The organizer of the congress was Georgian Business Club (BGC), which was founded in 2014 and it already includes several large Georgian companies. BGC will have ten representatives (senators) in the EES. They will be selected from various business sectors such as construction, tourism, agriculture, medicine, energy, media etc. The main aim of the club is to attract European investments, to present investment projects to large European investors and to lobby Georgian businesses in Europe. Co-organizers of the congress were the government of Ajara, Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Georgian National Investment Agency.
